The Bronx has a lot to be proud of tonight. Unfortunately, I seem to be having some trouble directly embedding the Facebook video I want, but this link takes you to it (the video is taken by Christina Alvarado of the Bronx, whose other videos are worth watching as well). Forget the Mayor’s statement and all of the furrowed-brow commentary out there in the mainstream media, and watch the people of the Bronx acting true to type in their native element.

The message in the local vernacular: “Fuck you. Get the fuck out.”

That’s how you talk to ICE. It’s not a polite conversation. It’s not an academic seminar. There’s no place here for “viewpoint diversity,” or hand-wringing, or both-sidesing. You get a bunch of people together, and you tell ICE & Co. where to go. Leave it to the Bronx to get the message right.
