Putting Tulsi on the Ballot in New Jersey

Readers of this blog are well aware of my (some would say quixotic) support for Tulsi Gabbard in the 2020 presidential election. Below the video is an announcement for New Jersey residents from Paul Surovell, a volunteer for the Tulsi 2020 campaign in New Jersey. And yes, I’m going to keep posting Paul’s announcement here every week until we get Tulsi Gabbard on the ballot. Fight me. Or better yet, just sign the petition and you won’t have to.

Let’s Put War and Peace on the Ballot in the NJ Primary
I’m a volunteer with Tulsi Gabbard’s Presidential campaign in NJ. I’m a member of Veterans for Peace and chairperson of South Mountain Peace Action in Maplewood, NJ. I’m supporting Tulsi because she’s the only candidate focusing on war and peace and especially the growing threat of nuclear war:

Tulsi, like every Presidential candidate, needs 2,000 signatures to appear on the NJ Democratic Primary ballot on June 2, 2020.

Our team is collecting signatures around the state and I’m writing to ask when you might be available to sign the petition to put Tulsi on the ballot in NJ — we will try to arrange the most convenient time and place for you to sign.

Please call me at 201-463-8228 or email me at paulsurovell@gmail.com — please include your phone number and I’ll get back to you shortly.

Whether or not Tulsi is elected President, her antiwar voice needs to be heard as part of the discussion.  Please sign her ballot petition for the NJ primary.

  1. An alternate way of signing the petition. I will check to see whether I can post the PDF on the blog, but for now, the best thing to do would be to contact Paul Surovell, who can send it to you as an attachment.

    (From Paul Surovell):

For many, this will be the easiest way to sign Tulsi’s petition:

I’ve attached the NJ Presidential Petition for Tulsi Gabbard that you can print out, sign and mail back to me after it is notarized.

    1) Open the attached PDF (the petition)
    2) Sign, and print your name and address (others can also sign, of course)
    3) Take it to a Notary Public (at libraries, banks, UPS stores, insurance offices)
    4) Mail the notarized petition to me at:

    PAUL SUROVELL
    101 PLYMOUTH AVE
    MAPLEWOOD NJ 07040

Note: You need to be a Registered Democrat to sign and present the petition to the Notary Public. In this case, per NJ Division of Elections, you are both the signer and the “witness”.

If you are not a Registered Democrat: You can change your affiliation to Democrat — on the spot — by downloading and filling out this simple form . . .

    Click to access party-affiliation-form.pdf

Then mail it to your county commissioner of elections which you can find here:

    https://www.state.nj.us/state/elections/county-election-officals.shtml

There will be other opportunities to sign Tulsi’s petition, but for many, this might be the easiest way.

    I hope this helps.
